The Rev. Dr. Micah McCreary To Lead ΒιΆΉΚΣΖ΅

New Brunswick, NJ β On Monday, June 5, 2017, the Board of ΒιΆΉΚΣΖ΅ (ΒιΆΉΚΣΖ΅) announced the unanimous appointment of the Reverend Dr. Micah McCreary as twelfth President of ΒιΆΉΚΣΖ΅.Β Dr. McCreary will join ΒιΆΉΚΣΖ΅ onΒ July 15, 2017. He follows Dr. Gregg Mast who served as president of the seminary for 11 years and is retiring at the end of June.

βΒιΆΉΚΣΖ΅ is an exceptional theological community living out its calling by providing a genuine theological education within a diverse community of faith,β said Dr. McCreary.Β βI look forward to working with the board, administration, faculty, students, Reformed Church in America, and other denominations, to further the seminaryβs mission.β
Dr. McCreary comes to ΒιΆΉΚΣΖ΅ from Richmond, Virginia, where he led McCreary and Madison Associates, Incorporated, a psychological and human resources consulting firm as President and CEO.Β Dr. McCreary also worked as a tenured Associate Professor of Psychology at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) for 21 years. During his career at VCU, Dr. McCreary held other positions including his service as Assistant Vice Provost for Diversity, Quality Enhancement Plan Coordinator, and Co-Director of the Counseling Psychology Program.
The Rev. Michael Bos, Co-Chair of the ΒιΆΉΚΣΖ΅ Search Committee, noted, βDr. McCreary has a vibrant faith, demonstrated leadership in education, and has led a growing congregation. This unique combination of experience and gifts position him well to help ΒιΆΉΚΣΖ΅ live into its calling to nurture the next generation of leaders for the Church.β
Dr. McCreary holds a Bachelor of Science in engineering from the University of Michigan, a Master of Divinity degree from the Samuel DeWitt Proctor School of Theology at Virginia Union University, and a Master of Science and doctoral degree in Counseling Psychology from VCU. Dr. McCreary and his wife, the Reverend Dr. Jacqueline E. Madison-McCreary, have pastored the Spring Creek Baptist Church in Moseley, Virginia, for 16 years.Β The McCrearys are the parents of one adult daughter.

Dr. McCreary has received a number of fellowships including the American Psychological Association Minority Fellowship, State Council of Higher Education in Virginia Fellowship, and the American Council on Education Presidential Fellowship.Β His scholarship and publications include grants to promote better health among families affected by substance abuse and numerous articles and book chapters on his teaching, service, and research.
