Smith Lecture DESCRIPTION: The Albert A. Smith Lecture ​–Kate Lynch\, a New York-based researcher\, educator\, and philosopher\, will present the results of her research on “The Reformed Church\, Rutgers\, and the Revolution.” Colonel Theunis Dey\, a charter member of Queens College (Rutgers)\, a member of the New Jersey Assembly and colonel of the Bergen County Militia\, and a host to Gen. Washington and his “family” (Hamilton\, Greene\, Knox\, LaFayette\, Varick and the Schuylers)\, embodied the spirit of religious and political independence as a fourth generation Dutch-American. Many of Dey’s sons and daughters and other Dutch-Americans who fought in his regiment carried their religion with them to western New York\, founding Reformed Churches in the 1820s in Lodi\, Ovid\, and Tyre in Seneca County whose ministers were graduates of the 鶹Ƶ.\n\nThe suggested donation for lunch is $10.00/person\, free for all 鶹Ƶ students\, faculty\, and staff.
